Notes from ConFusion 2012 open meeting

Posted on | February 3, 2012 |

Recordings from the convention will be posted soon.

It was proposed that we hold our next meeting (March 11, see calendar) as a teleconference, to general acclamation. All are welcome, please contact Chad if you would like to participate. Our current plan is to use Skype in audio-only mode.

Discussed the need for better volunteer interviewer and internal desk procedures once we receive recordings. Rick will post a proposed acquisition workflow for review, and begin processing our backlog into the catalog.

One of our members, Larry Tucker, had a stroke in July, but attended ConFusion for a short while Saturday. Larry’s mother, Nancy Tucker Shaw, was SFOHA president for many years, and under his “Uncle Albert” persona, he did audio and video fanzines and at least one movie, “FAANS”, recorded at an early ConFusion, starring Howard DeVore as JoPhan, Roger Sims as the House Detective, Mike Glicksohn as a poker player, Ro Nagey as a juggling maniac, Jean Barnard on a balcony… we are speaking with the friends who are taking care of Larry’s things, but they are afraid he didn’t save any oral history recordings/videos. Larry told me a few years ago that he had lost all his original copies of FAANS… and all we have are a couple 4th generation or worse VHS tapes. If anyone has any of Larry’s work, please contact us!

Attending the at-con SFOHA meeting Sunday: Rick Jackson, Stephen Lucchetti, Chad Childers, Mike Gardiner, Joel Zakem, and Clark Wierda.
